Our Community

Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP/s.r.l. has been a part of the National Capital Region for over 50 years. It is our home and community, and our success and growth have run in parallel with this region’s success. Our founders envisioned this firm being a pillar of the community, and over the decades that is what it has become. We take our service to our community seriously, and this is a commitment we pass on to all our new professionals as we’ve grown as a team. From four lawyers to over 50, that spirit has persisted. We’re proud of our community service.

Services

Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP/s.r.l. is a community firm, and we have always placed a focus on supporting local not-for-profit groups in the National Capital Region. Our 50-year and beyond history as a law firm has entailed us supporting the hard-working and dedicated organizations that serve our community.

We encourage and support our lawyers and staff to volunteer and are proud of the leadership roles so many in our firm have taken on. In addition to other volunteer work, our lawyers overwhelmingly help by serving as board directors or presidents of local groups.

We provide pro bono legal services to organizations and individuals who would otherwise not have an opportunity to ensure that they obtain the best legal advice.

Pro Bono

Pro bono, meaning “for the public good”, is used to describe legal services provided without charge. We take this traditional form of legal volunteerism to heart at Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall.

Our pro bono work is of two kinds. First, we provide legal services to the hard-working and dedicated not-for-profit groups that support our community. Very little effective community work can be done in this day and age without some form of legal support. We help the groups that help our community. Second, we provide legal services to individuals who cannot afford them. At the heart of the profession of the law is the idea of justice. Where effective legal representation is impossible simply because an individual cannot afford it, there can be no justice. In this country, we have guaranteed access to equal health care regardless of our wealth, but there is no such guarantee for legal help. We provide exemplary service to individuals who need it, because it is the right thing to do.
